Research direction
Follow a question through the evidence.
Three working directions organise our questions about embroidery. They offer routes for future studies, with room for a record or a counterexample to change an interpretation. The related inquiries below are starting points, not completed studies.

Authorship, Labour, Attribution
Where do design, execution, repair, copying, research and display meet? What does a record make visible, and what can it leave unnamed?03
A Language That Continues
How can a material language be studied through its histories while remaining capable of new choices in the present?Different stages of research
Not every question needs the same evidence.
Some questions begin with an object record. Others need a making process, a careful comparison or a source that has not yet been found. We name those differences instead of filling them with borrowed certainty.
What a study should leave behind
A finding another reader can examine.
A completed study should identify its question, materials, method, limited findings and competing explanations. It should say what might change its conclusions. Readers should be able to trace its sources, follow its reasoning and recognise where the evidence stops.
