What this site adds
This space brings a question, the material needed to examine it, and the reasoning around it into one place. It is intended to help readers connect practical experience with a study they can question, compare or contribute to.
About the initiative
EmbroideryArt.org is an independent international research and artistic initiative. Chinese embroidery is its starting point for examining how people work with materials, develop expression and share knowledge.
The initiative draws on the Chinese embroidery research and practice presented through embarts.com. Here, the purpose is to bring the questions within that work into focus, make the reasoning easier to examine, and find people who can take the inquiry further.
This space brings a question, the material needed to examine it, and the reasoning around it into one place. It is intended to help readers connect practical experience with a study they can question, compare or contribute to.
Research, making, writing, photography and translation are different contributions. A published study should explain who contributed what alongside the relevant record. The project does not use a general institutional name as a substitute for those details.
Enough scope to study closely, with space for an alternative explanation.
Sources, observations and interpretation that a reader can distinguish.
Clear credit, limits and a distinction between completed work and future research.
The research pages introduce questions and ways of studying them, rather than presenting completed studies. You can follow a thread that connects with your experience and consider what observations or sources might help to explore it.
